Moments Lost.

Tell me how long I’ve been here
The moments seem to disappear
For a second I thought I was gone
And without me time just moved on

Why should I try to keep track?
It’s still always one step ahead
Strange how time never seems to commence
And yet it always ends

So, do you know where you are?
A distant ray of the lost star
The moment you try to ensnare
It’s not even there

The past is one damp melody
I’ve tried to feel its frequency
The moment you remember your song
It’s already gone

Please tell me how long I’ve been here
The moments seem to disappear
For a second I thought I heard a song
Now it is gone

Today I’ll carve my memory
Well, just as it will carve me
No wonder past events only seem pure
When they endure

Are these the echoes of my dreams?
You can hardly hear their screams
Just phantoms quietly being loud
As they fade out.
